Can Kaviar see my sensitive information?
No. Detection and replacement happen directly on your computer. Protected information is sent neither to Kaviar nor to the AI.
What if Kaviar misses a piece of sensitive information?
You're always in control. Adjust the level of protection and customize your rules to tell Kaviar what to protect or leave in the clear.
Where are my conversations and settings stored?
On your computer, and nowhere else: conversations, routines, connectors and your Vault are never sent to Kaviar. That is what keeps your data private, but it has one consequence: if the place where they are stored gets wiped, they cannot be recovered.

With the desktop app (recommended), everything lives in a folder on your computer, like any other software: your data stays there until you delete it.

With the web version, everything lives inside your browser. It works well, but be careful: if you clear your browser data (cache, history, “clear everything”), use private browsing, or the browser cleans up on its own, you lose your history, your routines and your connectors. To keep everything safe, prefer the desktop app, or turn on end-to-end encrypted sync (Pro plan), which keeps a copy Kaviar cannot read.

What about my phone? The web version works on mobile, with the same rule: everything stays in the phone's browser. Two precautions. First, each browser is a separate space: what you do in Safari does not show up in Chrome, nor on your computer (unless you use encrypted sync, Pro plan). Second, on iPhone, Safari automatically wipes the data of a site you have not opened for 7 days. To avoid this, add Kaviar to your Home Screen (Share → “Add to Home Screen”): it then behaves like an app and your data is no longer deleted automatically.
Is Kaviar really free?
Yes. The free version protects your messages without limits. Paid plans add advanced features, notably for documents, teams and businesses.
